L3Harris Electron Devices is the industry’s foremost domestic manufacturer of high-power radio frequency amplifiers used in satellites as well as other communications and radar applications.  In addition to offering a full range of microwave- and millimeter-wave amplifiers to space and defense customers, we also develop and manufacture highly efficient electric thrusters for satellite station-keeping and interplanetary spacecraft propulsion.

We currently have an opportunity for a talented TEST TECHNICIAN         to test high-voltage DC power supplies at our Torrance, CA location. In this full-time hourly position, you will conduct the full range of testing on our 2.8-10 kV switching power supplies, from initial testing through environmental test.  You’ll check all circuits (logic, fault, etc.) that monitor power supply condition and repair or replace any failed components, such as transformers, inductors or capacitors.

  • Effectively test all PCB boards for electrical profiles per test specification.
  • Have strong DC troubleshooting skills to derive failure points in the circuit prohibiting the board from passing specifications. Using schematics and understanding of DC circuitry.
  • Test/adjust tube to meet requirements of test procedure or written instructions. Monitor and record ongoing testing. When specifications are met, record final data such as gain, power, noise and other parameters.
  • Use altitude chamber to check potted tube assembly for leakage and arcing.
  • Use Thermal Temp chambers with understanding of RF and DC test set-up in compliance to Test Specification and methodologies.
  • Prepare amplifier units to meet RF specifications through a series of environmental conditions as required by written test procedures.
  • Maintain records on each product and update router as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot tube, tube hardware and all electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment associated with test to determine causes of deviations from acceptable test results.
  • Process rework on customer or military returned which may involve special set-ups and testing procedures (analysis) to evaluate customer complaint. After analysis, respond to complaint by determining whether the product can be repaired. Record and document results on proper forms.


  • Two (2) – Four (4) years working experience in testing microwave tubes and amplifier units.
  • AA Degree in Electronic Technology (or equivalent military schooling, supplemental courses in electronics, specifically microwave theory)
  • Working experience in all phases of microwave testing.
  • Must have an understanding of microwave theory and proficiency in using electronic test equipment.

Security clearance preferred.
