Kiwiplan provides specialized computer software to the packaging industry. As part of its services, our customers purchase training services, on-site assistance, and consulting services. This position directly supports each of these functions by creating the software necessary to enhance the customer’s usefulness of the Kiwiplan computer products.

About the Position

This position requires the incumbent to perform functions that include drawing upon application and data processing experience and knowledge of business needs in order to provide technical solutions to business problems; supporting systems operations by resolving problems and making enhancements; creating efficient, structured, and logical coding, testing, and debugging of the system; preparing and leading informal training sessions and workshops for team members and users; serving as a technical information resource; and meeting with user management on a regular basis to report the status of projects.

The principal challenges of this position are keeping pace with increasing functional/user demands for new or enhanced systems, and ensure the programs and modules fit together as outlined in the detailed specifications. This requires the incumbent to identify problems and analyze the system to determine procedures for programming; translate the request into technical terminology; develop alternate solutions and assess t heir feasibility; and select solutions and write the code for the program.

Essential Functions

Under the general direction of the Technical Operations management, this position individually performs, or participates with others in performing technical services projects. Such projects produce new (or modifications to existing) systems which use the information and data available in Kiwiplan’s software products for reports and management analysis.

  • Programming – implementation, maintenance of the generalized software systems that best meet the needs of the customer, including:
    • Developing standards related to the use of, and communication with, the generalized software.
    • Analyzing and correcting problem conditions that could be attributable to generalized software.
    • Developing standards relating to the use of user-written macros and utilities.
    • Interfaces with user management regarding project status and user needs to promote an environment of user cooperation and satisfaction.
    • Assists in scheduling, determining manpower requirements, and estimating costs to project completion in order to meet user requirements.
  • Database – Design of the database structure best suited to the applications, to the operating environment, and to anticipated future needs. As well as, selection and modification of data management systems; integration with existing databases.

  • Linux System administration
  • Mysql database administration
  • Microsoft SQL database administration
  • Structure Query Language (SQL)
  • Crystal Reports
  • .Net development / C++
  • Data Warehouse experience
  • 5+ years of ERP system implementation and systems integration
  • Customer facing support in a software company
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of an organization through written, oral, and presentation formats
  • Able to adjust style to navigate various personalities in order to achieve desired business results for Kiwiplan and the customer
  • Some travel required (less than 20%)

Familiarity Required

  • Microsoft Server administration
  • Client administration (laptop, desktop, dumb terminals, etc.)
  • Network administration
  • Citrix/Term server / RDP administration

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Previous Kiwiplan usage experience
  • Web development
  • Java or web development
  • ERP Systems in packaging industry, preferably Corrugated industry
  • Bilingual
