Job Description
ROLE OVERVIEW

Provides technical and process assistance to the BNA Technical / Manufacturing departments and our customers in the form of quality, process improvement, trial coordination process, analyzing trial data, trial effectiveness, cost reduction, safety enhancement, and troubleshooting. Also responsible for ongoing site maintenance of applicable SMS manufacturing specifications ensuring data integrity in a manner consistent with the standardized divisional governance requirements, including adherence to the SAP product definition data.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO
  • Act as an Environmental, Health & Safety leader and puts EHS first in all responsibilities
  • Assure compliance with all EHS policies and initiatives
  • Implement work methods, materials and standards to support Lean principles
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data to identify process improvement opportunities
  • Identify opportunities and determine process capabilities through the use of statistical methods
  • Establish goals and continuous improvement action plans
  • Prioritize activities with the value stream
  • Communicate the status of projects, which may include progress reports, management reports and identification of barriers and recommended solutions to the leadership team
  • Train and coach others in the use of continuous improvement methodology including documentation of the completion of such training programs
  • Lead onsite productivity and continuous improvement teams emphasizing reduced waste while increasing safety, quality, productivity, efficiency and customer service
  • Coordinate and conduct internal audits as required by the various management standards to ensure that management systems remain relevant and continually improve
  • Interact daily with department Supervisors/Managers regarding quality issues and improvement initiatives to produce the best quality product available
  • Partner with Production and Quality in the rapid resolution of customer complaints and quality issues as they arise by obtaining all necessary samples & completing investigative work while maintaining a sense of urgency to get timely completion and resolution on all customer complaints
  • Support compliance to quality standard requirements for the Lebanon site by assisting with the management requirements for the compliance of GFSI (FSSC 22000 and PAS 223), HACCP and Bemis Corporate Directives and Programs
  • Interface with cross functional teams to leverage knowledge and improve problem solving on specific issues, which includes participation in process meetings, best practice teams, and communication with Corporate Process resources
  • Assist with the resolution of quality/supply/material testing activities with appropriate procurement and manufacturing resources
  • Assist with following and coordination of production trials providing accurate and detailed feedback to process owners and local leadership
  • Facilitate, adhere to and support all of the company policies and procedures as they are outlined and defined

WHAT WE VALUE

  • Solid knowledge of engineering concepts and practices
  • Basic working knowledge of external customer requirements, processes, and expectations
  • Knowledge of problem solving tools including Statistical analysis, Pareto charts, Gauge R&R, PFMEA, Process Capability, and Histograms
  • Experience with computer software: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Minitab and Outlook, SAP
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques
  • Good business acumen, including knowledge of the drivers of operating profit and plant metrics
  • Willingness to travel to support customer trials/quality concerns

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering)
  • Green Belt Certification, equivalent Lean-Six Sigma or other continuous improvement training, or a demonstrated ability to gain such certification
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
